 ALLIANCES IN 90s

Tehreek-e-Hurriyet-e-Kashmir, an alliance of eleven freedom fighting parties, was found in 1990 in Srinagar by leading figures and organisations. Mian Abdul Qayoom, Senior Advocate of Jammu and Kashmir High Court was its convenor. T.H.K. group was formed in Azad Kashmir in 1992. The author of these lines was elected convenor of THK for Azad Kashmir and Pakistan. Muhammad Azam Inqilabi became its General Secretary. Other representatives were; Prof Ashraf Saraf, Dr. Ghulam Qadir Wani, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Dr. Mushtaq Geelani, Syed Ziauddin Bukhari, Shuja Abbas & Shukoor Azad.

APHC Another Kashmiri alliance of 34 political, religious and social organizations and groups was formed in 1993. Mirwaiz Molvi Umer Farooq is the Chairman of the alliance. The constitution of APHC has recognized the third option also, besides the right of Kashmiris to accede to India or Pakistan according to the UNCIP resolutions of 1948-49. A critical analysis of these alliances and groups is not within the scope of this article at the moment.
