AFTER WORD

We are writing our history with our blood, each day digging graves with tearful eyes for our valiant sons nay planting evergreen trees for posterity, and with each martyr everyday, we add a new chapter of discovery to our national chronicle. It is the Islamic sense of humanity, which makes/made history of Islam and Muslims. It is the Jihad and Hijrat which Allah/Prophet (P.B.U.H) ordained and Muslims generation after generation upheld it for the cause of humanity against oppression.

I request my esteemed readers to treat my article as a tribute to the present memorable and marvellous uprising of Kashmir, which has surprised India/Pakistan and U.N.O. perhaps they never thought a day will ever dawn when 47 year old commitments of the united nations will get nourishment from the blood of Kashmiris.

The upsurge of Kashmir has moved the inhabitants, disturbed people and societies and compelled the world to talk on Kashmir problem with - seriousness and concern. India in return is raining bullets on our people but also sending apparently overtures of peace and constitutional packages to Kashmiris. Here I will quote a thousand times valuable saying of an Algerian freedom fighter, who asked France in 1960 in response to the letters offer of internal autonomy. Saad Dahlak warned France on 20 July 1960 in these words.

"Our people have not eaten grass and roots in order to obtain a new statute given as a concession":. 'Savage war of peace' by Alistair Home .

Today, at a critical time of our history we face enemies within also, who are selfish people, rotten eggs and wolves in lambs skin. Such elements have always tried to sabotage national movements for their personal ends. It is due to this fact that the same people who adored the leaders of the present movement as heroes and gods, now face increased danger to their life, honour and property. But, still there are true patriots pivot of hopes and torch bearers of light amid dark nights of this garden. People look to them and not towards actors or accidental characters.

This is not our aim to create an artificial/shallow leadership and impose favourite parrots on the people. Islam has totally a different aim before it and Muslims of Kashmir have rightly a message of truth and harmony. Kashmiris are an undaunted people. They do not fear any earthly god. No goddess of wealth/power can allure them. Nor old wine in the new bottles could ever satisfy them. Look how beautifully Napoleon Bonaparte defined the goal of mankind on earth:

"There are only two powers in the world the sword and the spirit. In the long run, the sword is always defeated by the spirit"

Let every Indian ruler/politician understand and accept the message quickly.

NEHRU'S VIEWS ON CONSTITUTION & KASHMIR

Pt. Nehru stated on 26th June 1952:

"We have not got a clear slate to write upon; we are limited, inhibited by our commitments to the United Nations, by this by that. But nevertheless, the basic fact remains that we have declared and even if we had not declared the fact would remain that it is the people of Kashmir who must decide. And I say with all respect to our constitution that it just does not matter what your constitution says; if the people of Kashmir do not want it, it will not go there. Let us suppose their was a proper plebiscite and the people of Kashmir said, we do not want to be with India." Well, we are committed to it, we would accept it. It might pain us but we would not send an army against them; we would accept it, and we should change our constitution about it."

Excerpts "Kalhan, a 12th century Hindu Kashmiri writer, has an intuitive conviction that "this country may be conquered by the force of spiritual merits but not by forces of soldiers". In Burke's memorable words. "People are not governed who are perpetually put down." Time does not take sides; one day, India will be totally drained by the evil of ruling a people who do not want to be. ruled by it.
